just been reading through derek white's new chapbook Mining in the Black Hills. with certain poets, one senses that the life behind the poetry is interesting in itself. that's true for white. i found myself imaging the sences that he mentions: spain, new york, the artic circle. i suppose that points to the heavy lyric perspective that makes it way thorugh the mixed medium and broken lines. by reading white's work, one can imagine a world of exploration, exploration through space and language, and i suppose that seeing such makes reading enjoyable.

p.s. i would still like this piece reviewed for moria. if you are interested in being a reviewer, let me know.
