this afternoon i've been sitting in my study enjoying the cool air coming through the windows and have been reading through submissions for moria. i love and hate the task of sorting work for new issues. seeing incredible new work is exciting; however, since i send roughly 40 rejections for every acceptance, i feel like i spend much of my time crushing dreams.

this time around, i was surprised at the range of submissions i received from international writers. in my inbox were submissions from turkey, the netherlands, england, denmark, south africa, india, new zealand, australia, and canada. that's not surprising considering that moria receives visits from around 44 countries a month, but seeing the submissions amazes me. often i have heard colleagues and other writers mention that they still want to feel the paper in their hands and lament e-zines as limited. limited? is a large readership in myriad countries more limited than a distribution of a 1000 or 1500 hard copies?
