i just came back last night after a road trip to the east coast. lori and i started it off with philly, where i had a reading with adam fieled, eric baus, and frank sherlock. it was a great reading. all of the readers were fun to listen to, and i got to spend time with the fascinating adam and mary afterwards.

next, we headed to new york for the opening reading of The City Visible: Chicago Poetry for the New Century (if you want to know what's happening in chicago poetry, buy it!). i posted some pictures from the reading there on flickr. the reading was good, and i always love being in new york--i even managed to get street parking!

after the cities, we decided to make our way to less crowded places. we started with cape cod. since it was off season, we had the beaches practically to ourselves. plus, the whales were just coming through, so we could see them swimming in the water from the beaches. after playing around there, we stopped in plymouth and then headed for a pilgrimage to walden pond and concord. walden pond was amazing, and visiting the haunts of emerson was wonderful.

we then scooted up the coast to bar harbor and arcadia national park. my flickr pictures should show you how beautiful it is there. we stayed there for two days, then stopped at niagara fallas before driving through canada and michigan to chicago.
