if you are coming to chicago for awp, make sure to come to the Chicago Poetics reading. i'll be reading there on friday evening with kevin koval, simone muench, larry sawyer, ray bianchi, chris glomski, jennifer scappettone, melissa severin, and jackie white. all of these poets are connected to chicago, and while there are many, many other readings friday, this one is in a great space and is actually related to chicago. (many of the readings at awp this year just imitate readings on the coasts).
so, come to the SAIC Ballroom at 112 S. Michigan Ave at 6:30 on Friday, Feb. 13. the readers are limited to 10 minutes, so you could still make the later readings, and you'll be getting an actual taste of chicago. (i read first, so don't be fashionably late, especially since i've been seriously cutting back on doing readings lately.)
(if you are coming to town, feel free to stop by the Cracked Slab Books table in the bookfair. i'll be sitting there with ray bianchi talking about cracked slab's books--there'll be some moria books there as well.)
