i received deborah meadows Representing Absense (green integer) in the mail yesterday. exciting work. she understands the way language is populated by past events, and she points us towards our own language practices as implicated in the hierarchy of power whether or not we like it. i do not mean to suggest her work is a thinly veiled polemic aimed at the reader; rather, her playful turning of past language interacts with writings by other writers. Plus, this work is enjoyable to read from an aesthetic standpoint—becoming lost in the words is easy.
