i have been going to many readings lately. sometimes they are horrendous, sometimes quite good. the last one that i went to was a reading by nathaniel mackey and ed roberson. mackey's work has intrigued me for years, so i felt fortunate to hear him read. he's a quiet but steady reader. that matched well with ed roberson's reading. roberson's work is not familar to me, but i enjoyed hearing it.

it also helps that i left the reading with goodies. dave pavelich slipped me From Poetry to Verse: Essays on the Making of Modern Poetry. it's quite a nice book. matthias regan's essay in it makes me want to re-read edgar lee masters' work. i haven't read it since probably high school, but i'm interested to go back through it now.
