just after i climbed out of bed this morning, i checked my e-mail, and the first one that i read contained the startling news that the poet kari edwards died. i quickly double-checked to make sure, but unfortunately the news is true. kari died on dec. 2nd.
kari and i corresponded for several years through e-mail, and she submitted to and supported moria, the e-zine i edit. (here are some of her poems.) i found her work fascinating, especially her collection iduna, a collection which heavily influenced one of my forthcoming collections. i also felt inspired by her strong advocation of gender issues.
she will be missed.
