i expected last week to be electric in chicago, especially in my neighborhood--i live only about 10 blocks away from the obamas, and while i'm sure that it was, i did not see it, for i spent much of our election night in the emergency room watching my infant daughter being poked by needles and inspected by a host of doctors. at around 5 a.m. that night, she was admitted into the hospital, and i spent the next few days by her side. whatever she experienced is hopefully over now, for she is at home again.
