last night i listened to luciano erba read his work (mark strand read translations along with him). while i enjoy his work, it's a little tame for my taste. i did, however, especially enjoy listening to him talk afterwards about his connections with other writers like montale and zanzotto. erba (appropriately with his name) picks up the close attention to details in nature that appears in montale's work.
that said, strand's translation was nice, and i'm glad guernica, the press, has decided to publish erba's poetry.
