i came back friday night from a trip south with garin (and shadla) cycholl. garin and i have been working on a mississippi river poem for several years, so we traveled down the river (in a car next to it) from cairo down to new orleans to gather inspiration for the poem. we made it down to new orleans friday and then turned around. i posted a few pictures on flikr.
the highlights on the trip for me happened in memphis, oxford (where we had lunch with barry hannah), vicksburg, jackson (where we surprised my brother on his birthday), natchez, and new orleans.
