The Daily Glance
Kyle Schlesinger's Hello Helicopter consists of five sections that each function like their own books, as if Schlesinger is asking us to learn to read his work under five sets of rules. My favorite sections are the first two. In fact, the first poem, "Conversion Experience," of the book is probably my favorite:
The precipice beyond the mirage resembles the courtyard in which
you are standing
Somewhere someone is painting a name on the shutters.
The second section, Bigfoot, is subtitled "An Essay on Objection." Essentially, it tells the story of a bulldozer operator(s) losing his/their faith in the clearing of land in the wilderness, but Schlesinger pulls in many other themes, such as the project of creation.
