The Daily Glance

E. Tracy Grinnell's Some Clear Souvenir is a well-crafted book that explores the spaces between mediums and thought where things unravel.  Time, memory, image--she examines where they become set in stone or fade because we cannot hold them.

If using Aristotelean terms, I'd say she writes of the potentiality of things and not the actuality.  We're there sensing how a figure comes across a mind, a memory perhaps, and then we don't know if it has been burned on the wall or has kept moving.

She is exact in her language, so it is easy just to get caught up in the sound of the lines and the page.
