Steve Dalachinsky's arrivin in the okidoke is playful book filled with interesting linguistic experiments and with sarcasm. Dalachinsky exploits our desire to find meaning and tries to tamper with our poetic expectations.

I can see some words here and traces of words, and while my mind searches to find meaning, I also thing he's trying to break our attempt at forcing a meaning. That's not true in all of the pieces, but it is in most of them. The few pieces that are more straight-forward narrative almost seem to poke fun of the idea of narrative.

make up a story
tell it to a friend
pass it thru the net of time
& see how it will end.

Is he serious or is this sarcasm?
