The Daily Glance

Brandi Homan's Two Kinds of Arson is a chapbook of relationships, lust, and the longing for intimacy. They are poems with vivid imagery and word choices, and they are firmly rooted in the lyric tradition--overheard at a point of heightened emotion. They also have a kick, as if Homan wants you to know she is a strong woman.

I'm the original
illustrated woman.
Stitching you into my skin,
note by note, thread by thread,
pieces of bread to lure you in.
A steel hummingbird
that licks and nips:
Open up, give me a kiss.

Overall, these poems make me look forward to reading Homan's latest book.
