The Daily Glance

Elisa Gabbert and Kathleen Rooney's That Tiny Insane Voluptuousness is a fun book filled with humor, word play, and quick narrative shifts. These two poets blend together so well that it's hard to see any seams; it just feels like this book was written by someone with a satirical and quick sense of humor but someone who also knows poetry well. The titles alone give you an idea of the range of these poems: "School of Quietude," "Welcome to the Jungle," "The Moving Walkway is Ending."

It's hard to get lost in the woods--
harder, still, to feed your baby deer

when you kind of want to eat her.
If you find a clearing w/ a galaxyview,

best not to lie down there, lest
a local rent-a-horse rest there, too.
