The Daily Glance
Tommassina Squadrito's Alfabeto Leggero is a vispo e-book up at G A M M M. Don't worry if you don't know Italian, for it is not needed to enjoy this work. The book consists of blurry images in black and white, and the images contain shapes that might be letters. Several images seem to repeat, but really they are slightly changed. The book does not contain the entire alphabet, nor is it clear in all cases what letter is being hinted at with the image, but that I suppose is why the book is titled as it is, a title I translate to mean Light Alphabet or perhaps better Faint Alphabet. It's interesting that Squadrito makes us question if we are seeing letters, and if so, are we seeing deconstructed words? Are we looking at found letters as if we are looking at found pieces before being constructed into works? Or perhaps found letters are the same as a found bumper or tire? Some of the letters are so blurry as to seem more like asemic writing than vispo, but others, like the s, are clearly blurred letters.
