Truong Tran's four letter words is primarily a book of prose poems with the capitalization and punctuation removed so that the syntax becomes unhinged at moments. Really, Tran's prose poems work better than anyone's that I've read lately. The prose poem seems to be a current trend, but I don't think many people handle the form well mostly because it looks like a simple form but is not. With Tran's work, the prose poem is the most apt form simply because of the stringing along of content thought lines and the intent to repeat and reshape by melding the syntax of one sentence with another one.
the working might be different but from here the poem reads you can

you can stay but the truth remains you are not invited
or reactionary poems or lineage or smoke screen or my hands are tiedTran plays with speed and content in these short lines, and he's obviously commenting on meaning in language and construction in poetry. Ultimately, it's a small but rich book.
